A medical substance, the sale of which is prohibited by Federation law. Even attempting to obtain it is a felony (presumably unless one is a doctor). This is because in the wrong hands, it can be used to make biogenic weapons, to conduct illegal replication experiments, or to develop organic explosives.
Altovar attacked Bashir when the doctor caught him stealing it, after having refused to give or sell Altovar some.

Bashir's "audacious and groundbreaking" work in this field earned him a nomination for the 2371 Carrington Award.
the Blight- "Prophet Motive"
The name given by the natives of the Teplan system to the disease that they were infected with by the Jem'Hadar as an example to all who defied the Dominion. Everyone there is born with it. In the asymptomatic stage, the victim has blue lesions on the face and body, which turn red with the onset of the terminal stage, known as Quickening; death soon follows. Bashir was able to isolate the virus and develop an antigen -- however, the virus was found to mutate after Quickening when exposed to EM fields like those from Starfleet medical instruments. It was discovered, however, that the antigen did cure babies in utero. When Bashir left, plans were underway to vaccinate all pregnant women.

DNA resequencing- "The Passenger"
A procedure in which a subject is genetically engineered for specific traits. It is illegal except to correct severe birth defects, but it was going on on Adigeon Prime in 2348, when Bashir's parents had it done to him. Any individual discovered to have been so treated is barred from serving in Starfleet or practicing medicine, in order to discourage the creation of genetic "supermen" like Khan Singh. In some instances the subject suffers incurable mental side effects.
- "Doctor Bashir, I Presume", "Statistical Probabilities"
Note: O'Brien said in "Doctor Bashir, I Presume" that there hadn't been a case in 100 years; this was contradicted in "Statistical Probabilities" by the revelation that there were several genetically engineered people who had been institutionalized due to incurable side effects of the treatment. (O'Brien very probably was unaware of them.)

Used by Bashir to purge the baby Changeling of tetryon isotopes.
engramatic dissociation- "The Begotten"
A theoretical condition in which someone with a disciplined mind is able to compartmentalize contradictory information, believing one thing while doing another. Sloan told Bashir he believed that Bashir had this ability, and that the Dominion, realizing this, had utilized it to turn Bashir into a mole for them without his conscious knowledge. (The events of "The Passenger", back in the 1st season, seem to give credence to Sloan's belief.)

On Bajor. Bashir had written a paper on it which Dr. Elizabeth Lense thought brilliant.
implant- "Explorers"
A biomechanical device installed in the postcentral gyrus of Garak's brain by the Obsidian Order. Its purpose was to stimulate endorphins so that he could withstand torture. After his exile to the station, Garak began to use it daily to take his mind off the bright lights, cold temperature, and the looks of hatred he received from Bajorans. Eventually he let it run continually for two years, until it began breaking down, causing his cranial nerve clusters to deteriorate. This caused enormous pain and endangered his life until Bashir finally was able to remove it.

Bajoran herbs, recommended during pregnancy; they help maintain progesterone levels, though they taste horrible. They also act as a counteragent against sedatives. Furel and Lupaza brought Kira some. Though she was less than enthused by the gift, they enabled her to stay conscious when Prin tried to sedate her.
merfadon- "The Darkness and the Light"
A sedative given to Kira by Silaran Prin, but counteracted by the makara herbs she had taken.
morphogenic enzymes- "The Darkness and the Light"
There were some residual ones in Odo's brain even though he had become a solid. When the runabout he, Sisko, Dax, and Garak were in encountered a plasma storm, the enzymes were activated, initiating a telepathic response. Odo's mind unconsciously reached out to Link with other Changelings, but only Sisko, Dax, and Garak were there, resulting in their sharing his flashback.

Bashir flooded Bareil's system with it to revive him. It caused selective vasoconstriction of the arteries, resulting in inadequate blood flow to his organs.
neuromuscular adaptation- "Life Support"
A biochemical treatment intended to help members of low-gravity species adapt to higher gravity. It was first proposed by Nathaniel Teros in 2340, but abandoned in the theoretical stage. Thirty years later, Bashir made it a reality using neo-analyptic transmitters, and began treatments on Melora, until she chose to discontinue them.
neuro-polaric induction- "Melora"
A very serious operation which Bashir needed to perform on Sisko to repolarize his neural sheaths following an accident in which the holosuite computer shorted out and knocked him unconscious. The depolarization was causing heightened neural activity, during which Sisko was experiencing visions. Sisko refused the operation, not wanting to lose the visions, but after he collapsed and was near death, Jake gave his consent as the closest relative. The operation was a success. (Interestingly, this was during the period when Bashir had been replaced by a Changeling, which wasn't revealed until a few episodes later.)
